Wednesday is also the day thousands of Trekkies across the globe have been waiting for their entire lives as Star Trek icon William Shatner blasts off with Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin for the company’s second suborbital spaceflight.

Shatner (living long and prosper at 90) will be the oldest human currently on record to participate in space travel.

Joining the actor will be Blue Origin Vice President Audrey Powers, former NASA engineer Dr. Chris Boshuizen and Medidata co-founder Glen de Vries.
